Egypt Takes Center Stage at Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue

At the 11th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue held in March, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum abd Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, highlighted Egypt’s energy strategy, which prioritizes diversification, sustainability and regional cooperation. Badawi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to energy security economic growth, and environemntal responsibility, underlining the role of natural gas as a transitional fuel with low emissions. Egypt aims to become a regional energy hub, leveraging its wind, solar, and clean energy resources. Badawi also detailed Egypt’s Integrated and Sustainable Energy Strategy, targeting 42% share of renewable energy by 2030, and discussed the country’s ambition to become a global hydrogen hub. His discussions at the conference were followed by a meeting with Germany’s Robert Habeck, focusing on gas collaboration, hydrogen development, and carbon trading.
