Egypt Installs Five Solar Energy Plants in Archaeological Sites

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities installed solar energy stations at five world heritage sites and museums in Egypt. The implementation is a part of a framework memorandum of understanding signed during COP27 between the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The five solar energy stations are established at Prince Mohamed Ali Palace (Al Manial Palace), the visitors' area at the Pyramids of Giza complex, Alexandria National Museum (ANM) and Alexandria's Royal Jewelry Museum.

The stations produce a total of 325 kW of photovoltaic systems generating 520 MW.hr/year and is estimated to reduce around 295/year of carbon dioxide equivalent of greenhouse gas emission annually.
