Egypt Launches ‘Digital Pioneers’ initiative to Train Youth and Expand Tech Exports

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, alongside Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, recently discussed the government’s new “Digital Pioneers” initiative, aimed at equipping young people with advanced technology skills. Set to open applications after Eid Al-Fitr 2025, the program will focus on fields like artificial intelligence, cybersecuirty, programming and digital design. It will offer a residency model at dedicated facilities, including the Military Academy in Heliopolisl, and provide training in technical skills, languages, personal development and collaboration with leading tech firms. The program targets 5,000 youth annually, with a budget of approximately EGP 4 billion per year, supporting accomodation, tuition and training costs. President Al-Sisi stressed the importance of merit-based selection to ensure the initiative effectively develops talent for Egypt’s growing digital economy.
