Egypt is set to lease a German floating regasification unit to enhance its energy infrastructure. To finalize the contractual terms, an Egyptian delegation will visit Germany by the end of the month.
Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, discussed this plan with Philipp Steinberg from the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The talks also covered Germany’s potential purchase of Cypriot gas, which will be processed in Egypt under a recent agreement between Egypt and Cyprus.
Beyond natural gas, both sides explored cooperation in hydrogen development, leveraging Germany’s expertise and Egypt’s renewable energy potential. Discussions also included carbon storage, trading, and distribution, aiming to advance sustainable energy solutions.
This meeting highlights the strengthening energy collaboration between Egypt and Germany, reinforcing Egypt’s role as a key energy hub in the region.
