Economic Relations
Kenya and Bavaria have a long-standing bilateral partnership. In 2023, the volume of trade between Bavaria and Kenya totalled € 45 million, with Bavaria achieving a trade surplus of just under € 3 million. Trade with Tanzania is similarly high (approx. € 44 million), but is mainly made up of Bavarian exports to Tanzania (€ 39 million). Economic relations also exist with Uganda (trade volume: € 22 million) and Rwanda (€ 6 million), albeit to a lesser extent.
With the opening of a representative office for East Africa in Kenya in May 2024, the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs set a milestone in foreign trade policy and emphasised its long-term commitment to supporting Bavarian companies in tapping into the dynamic and growing economic markets in the region.
